WHAT IS BEING TESTED IN BLOOD CULTURE


Blood culture detect the presence of bacteria and fungi which cause blood infection .It can be dangerous as infection might spread in the other organ of the body which can lead to septicaemia , which is a life threatening condition that might need hospitalization .


INTERPRETATION OF BLOOD CULTURE TEST RESULT


A blood culture is a test to find an infection in the blood. Most bacteria grow in culture in 2 to 3 days, but some can take up to 10 days. Fungus can take up to 3 to 4 weeks to show up in the culture.
