TECHNOLOGY USED IN COLOR DOPPLER

A Doppler ultrasound is a non-invasive test that can be used to estimate your blood flow through blood vessels by projecting high-frequency sound waves (ultrasound) off circulating red blood cells. Routine ultrasound uses sound waves to produce images, but it cannot show blood flow.

HOW IS COLOR DOPPLER TEST PERFORMED

During a Doppler ultrasound, sonographer presses transducer, against your skin over the area of your body being examined, moving from one area to another as necessary.

  • Evaluate the success of procedures that graft or bypass blood vessels.
  • Determine if there is an enlarged artery (aneurysm).
  • Determine the source and severity of varicose veins.
  • blockages to blood flow (such as clots) narrowing of vessels.
